Ukrainian troops have captured two North Korean soldiers, part of a contingent that has been fighting alongside Russian forces against Ukraine since last year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday, marking the first disclosure of North Korean personnel being taken as prisoners of war.
“This was not an easy task,” Zelenskyy wrote on the X platform, referring to the captured North Korean soldiers in Russia’s western region of Kursk near Ukraine. The two wounded have been transported to Kyiv.
