Norwegian oil and gas companies said they delivered record levels of natural gas in 2024 and will drill a similar number of exploration wells next year, in an effort to make up for falling output later in the decade, Bloomberg reported.
Norway’s Directorate of Marine Resources said Thursday that about 40 wells are scheduled to be drilled in 2025, on par with the 42 drilled last year.
Total natural gas sales from Norway reached 124 billion standard cubic metres last year, up from the previous record of 122.8 billion standard cubic metres in 2022, the directorate said, as total oil and gas production was higher than it had been since 2009.
