The effusive eruption from the southwestern part of the summit caldera continues.
The new lava lake layering persists as vigorous fountaining produces lava flows resulting from hot fluid blebs falling to the ground. Some fountaining jets surpass 20-30 meters in height.
The summit seismic activity has been diminished over the past 24 hours with only 1 small-magnitude quake detected and none in the upper ERZ and SWRZ. The volcanic tremor continues to be elevated due to powerful fountaining activity over the past 24 hours.
The summit deflation continues, reflecting magma intrusion and migration under the surface.
SO2 emissions remain elevated and propagated to the southwest yesterday.
The activity is able to watch via the USGS HVO summit webcam.

The eruption within Kaluapele (#Kilauea‘s summit caldera) that began Dec 23 & paused twice, continues this morning with lava fountaining on the SW side of Halemaʻumaʻu crater. #HVO geologists on the crater rim Dec 29 observed fountain heights of up to ~130 ft (40 m). pic.twitter.com/D6P3JqF4zV
