Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and his South Korean counterpart Han Duck Soo, the nation’s interim leader, agreed Thursday to maintain close communication to keep the improvement in bilateral ties on track despite the impeachment of the president.
Ishiba and Han, who assumed the role of South Korea’s acting president on the weekend, also reaffirmed during their phone call the importance of continuing to collaborate trilaterally with the United States in dealing with North Korea and other issues, according to Japan’s Foreign Ministry.
