The leaders of Japan and Malaysia met Friday to deepen bilateral ties, especially in the security arena, building on the countries’ strategic partnership in the face of China’s assertive behavior in the region.
In his meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Malaysia, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba hopes to discuss furthering cooperation on securing stable supply chains, as the Southeast Asian country is located near critical shipping lanes for energy and other goods, according to Japanese officials.
