Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas have agreed to a cease-fire deal, including a release of hostages, U.S. President Joe Biden and the Qatari government, also a mediator in the negotiations, said Wednesday.
The three-phase deal, set to begin Sunday with the first part lasting six months, is expected to put an end to the conflict in the Gaza Strip that started after Hamas abruptly attacked Israel and took hostages in October 2023, followed by massive retaliatory offensives by Jerusalem.
